Kate is an artist and creative professional with extensive arts management and producing experience. Trained as a theater director with a focus on new play development, Kate has a growing directing career that she has built alongside non-profit arts leadership at organizations that provide access and support for artists of all stripes. Kate approaches her work with a creative lens, from directing to fundraising to producing to cooking, and believes that good storytelling is a key to any success.


Kate is a Brooklyn-based theater and film director, with over 20 years of practice.

She has developed and directed work with La Jolla Playhouse, Clubbed Thumb, Ars Nova, Dixon Place, IRT, NYU, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Luna Stage, SPACE on Ryder Farm, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, University of Rochester, Gowanus Arts Productions, and Wide Eyed Productions, among others. Recent productions include: The Grown Up by Jordan Harrison, Rats! by Bryna Turner (Clubbed Thumb Winterworks) and Next to Normal by Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt. Assistant Directing: Daniel Aukin, Les Waters, Meredith McDonough, and Ian Belknap. Kate is a Clubbed Thumb Directing Fellow (2018-2019), Lincoln Center Directors Lab Member (2014) and Actors Theater of Louisville Directing Intern (2012-2013). MFA Directing: The New School.


Kate also loves to cook.

Her love of food began when she was a young girl in Texas, learning how to make Thanksgiving dinner from her mom. She was a resident chef for SPACE on Ryder Farm for 5 years where she expanded the resident kitchen program and developed hundreds of recipes in collaboration with SPACE’s organic farmers. Kate cooks for several supper clubs in NYC and the Hudson Valley, and was a Marble House Project Culinary Resident in 2021, where she created a 9-course tasting menu inspired by the artists she was in residence with for 3 weeks.


Kate also loves to design and make things.

She is a self-taught graphic designer who loves to create pieces of meaningful, engaging visual storytelling for nonprofits, educators, and artists. She has created digital content and print media for Mason Bates’ Philharmonia Fantastique, The New School for Performing Arts, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Concert Adventures for Early Childhood, SPACE on Ryder Farm, to name a few. For the past 3 years, Kate served as Creative Director for SPACE on Ryder Farm, where she developed and expanded their brand, commissioned artists alumni, and curated residencies. She’s a co-Founder of Tiedyen4biden (VOGUE, LATimes), a grassroots movement that raised $170,000 for Democratic campaigns during the 2020 election cycle. In her free time, Kate can be found doing embroidery or posting on her dog’s Instgram.
